TV sucks

Kris and I gave up TV a year ago next month, it was on of the best decisions we’ve made. Exponentially so when this article showed up in Google News today. I mean, who the hell cares if all the town’s women leave for a week? I don’t.

To be honest though, I’m not sure which is worse, the fact that somebody wasted their time dreaming up such crap, or the fact that somebody at the Globe and Mail thought this would make a good article, OR the fact that I’m wasting my time blogging about it. Maybe it’s time I started to write decent posts rather than my recent rants.

I got rid of TV about a year ago too!

    Well, not exactly.

My old roommates had satellite, and cancelled it when they moved out, leaving me with nothing but the free channels (2,4,5,9,13).

I found out that I actually liked that. It saves a few bucks a month, you don’t waste time sitting in front of the TV, and you still get the “essentials” (news, sports, and a few good prime-time shows and movies).

I did see that thing about all the women leaving, and it sounds stupid. What is this, 1950? Is this a town where men don’t know how to cook, clean and change diapers? Is that town stuck in a time loop?

Plus, it’s so arbitrary. What if all the men left town? All the right-handers? All the people over 6 feet tall? Stupid.
